Receives $7.2 Million Order for U.S. Army Knight Precision Targeting System

ST. LOUIS -- Engineered Support Systems, Inc. has received a $7.2 million order from the U.S. Army Tank- automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan, for system technical support and logistics services for the Knight Precision Targeting System. Engineered Support's wholly-owned subsidiary Systems & Electronics Inc. (SEI) will provide the services in their St. Louis facility.

"To date, SEI has produced more than 140 Knight systems for the Army and Army National Guard. Knights are currently deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom," said Gerald A. Potthoff, Engineered Support's Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "With this order for technical and logistics support, we're now also able to provide for successful life cycle management for the Knight system."

Knight is a precision targeting system consisting of a laser designator/rangefinder, thermal imager, digital command and control, blended inertial/Global Positioning System navigation and targeting, and a self defense weapon. Its mission is to provide precision far target location and laser target designation for both artillery and air-delivered general purpose and precision-guided munitions.
