Roush's Lightweight High-Mobility Platform

Roush Technology’s new lightweight 6x6 all-terrain vehicle has been revealed at DVD defence exhibition.

The Harewood programme, as it is known within Roush, began after the company won a £3.5 million tender to design, develop and build a new lightweight, high-mobility modular platform for the UM MoD.

The new platform features fully independent front suspension and a ‘walking beam’ rear bogey – supporting an ultra-light honeycomb aluminium chassis. Full-time 6x6 all-wheel-drive is delivered from a 1.9-litre mechanically fuelled, naturally aspirated diesel engine, via fully automatic transmission and a torque converter. The engine develops 72 brake horsepower and 125 Nm of torque.

The kerb weight of the base platform is 805 kg, which permits a payload capacity of over 900 kg. The machine uses high flotation tyres to achieve low ground pressure.
