2.8 Billion Baht Arms Procurement Budget Thai Army Approved

The Thailand cabinet meeting on the 12th of July has had a resolution approving the encumbrance of 2,785,500,000 Baht in fiscal years 2005-2007.

Pol. Gen. Chalermdej Chompoonut, Government Spokesman, revealed that the cabinet meeting on the 12th of July has had a resolution approving the encumbrance of 2,785,500,000 Baht in fiscal years 2005-2007 by the Army for six weaponry procurement projects which include 1) 5.56 mm rifles procurement; 2) 7.62 mm machine guns procurement; 3) Attack helicopters procurement (seven); 4) 5.56 mm submachine guns procurement; 5) Model-212 utility helicopters repair and maintenance; and, 6) Radio direction detectors procurement. 557,100,000 Baht of the said budget would be paid in 2005 and 1,114,200,000 Baht would be paid in 2006 and in 2007.
