In 1990, Giat Industries developed and produced an add-on armour package for the French Army's AMX-10RC to increase the ballistic protection of the turret and the chassis. This vehicle was used in Operation Desert Storm. In the future the French Army's fleet of AMX-10RC (6 x 6) armoured cars is to be upgraded in a number of key areas including the fitting of additional passive armour.
