BAE Systems introduced the new CV90 MkIV Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), the last version of the CV90 family, on January 24, 2017, at the International Armored Vehicles Conference in London. The company said it was planning to offer CV90 MkIV for the Czech Republic as part of an ongoing tender for armored vehicles to replace the outdated BMV-II IFV fleet in the Czech Army.

This is the fifth generation of the proven family of VC90 IFV.

The new MkIV has significant opportunities for further upgrades, including increased power plant and active suspension technology to improve speed and increase payload capacity. The new vehicle is also equipped with the latest electronic architecture of NATO to meet the needs of customers in the integration of new sensors and the autonomous systems.

The CV90 MkIV received a new Scania engine with a power of up to 1,000 horsepower and the newest modernized superpowerful X300 transmission. The total weight of the vehicle is increased from 35 to 37 tons, which means that users will benefit from two tons of additional payload without reducing the strength of the vehicle, while level of protection is same.

Modernization of MkIV also allows to fully realize the concept of BAE Systems iFighting. iFighting - or intelligent fighting - is a vision of the company for a challenging battle. iFighting supports the crew of the vehicle due to greatly improved situational awareness, helping the decision-making process. This keeps the vigilance and endurance of the crew, while ensuring the maximum efficiency of the entire system. iFighting provides improved ergonomics, improved autonomy, extended reality and remote control capability.
