The Tula Cartridge Works is the leading enterprise of ammunition industry in Russia. The plant specialises in output of ammunition for light small-arms weapons and is the largest in the country supplier of ammunition to domestic and foreign markets.

The history of the plant dates back to the end of the 19th century when in 1880 the emperor Alexander II approved the regulations on establishment of ammunition production in Tula.

At present the plant produces ammunition for the army, police as well as for the civil market, including such popular all over the world calibres as 5,45x18 PSM; .380 ACP; 9 mm Makarov; 9 mm Luger; 40 S&W; .45 AUTO; 5,45x39 Kalashnikov; 7,62x39 Kalashnikov; 5,56x45; 7,62x51.

Among the latest developments of the enterprise a special place is occupied by ammunition which is used by law enforcement bodies in anti-terrorist struggle.

The state company “ROSOBORONEXPORT” exports the Tula-produced ammunition to dozens of countries throughout the world.
