VAISALA - TACTICAL WEATHER OBSERVATION SYSTEMS FOR LAND, SEA AND AIR FORCES

Vaisala develops, manufactures and markets electronic measurement systems and equipment for meteorology and the environmental sciences, traffic safety and industry. Vaisala is the leading supplier of meteorological equipment for both defence and civilian applications.

Vaisala tactical weather observation systems perform accurately and reliably in every field operation, whatever the tactical objective. Robustness, dependability, portability and deployability are the operative words.

METEOROLOGICAL DATA ACQUISITION FOR IMPROVED ARTILLERY ACCURACY

For artillery fire control operations, just two operators are needed to perform upper-air soundings with a Vaisala system. As the balloon-borne Vaisala radiosonde ascends through the atmosphere, it measures atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity.

It tracks the navigation signals and sends the measurement data to ground equipment. Here, wind speed and direction is automatically calculated using global or local navigation networks or independent windfinding methods. The basic measurement data can be coded into several message formats.

RT20 RADIOTHEODOLITE FOR AUTOMATED METEOROLOGICAL DATA ACQUISITION

The Vaisala Radiotheodolite RT20 is the all-weather antenna for automated meteorological data acquisition in field operations. Working on the principle of radio direction finding and passive reception, it ensures immunity from detection. A special tilt sensor ensures fast set-up and reliable operation.

With its advanced interferometric technology, the RT20 is the first choice for field artillery units and other units requiring a weather observation system that can be moved quickly by light vehicle, light trailer or helicopter.

Digi CORA III FOR ADVANCED DATA MANAGEMENT

The Vaisala Digi CORA III Sounding System is a modular software solution built around a military-grade PC or ruggedized laptop with connections to subsystems that receive the radiosonde telemetry and navigation signals for pre-processing. It runs on a widely available operating system, is easy to configure and use, and offers a wide range of communication options.

VAISALA TACMET - BASIC AND ENHANCED TACTICAL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATION SYSTEM

The Vaisala MAWS201M Tactical Meteorological Observation System (TACMET) is the world's most popular surface weather observation station for defence operations. The basic TACMET measures meteorological parameters. The enhanced TACMET measures both meteorological and aviation parameters (cloud height and cover, visibility, present weather and lightning activity). In both configurations TACMET is very compact and easy to deploy, and built with widely available components.

NEW! VAISALA RK91 LOW ALTITUDE ROCKETSONDE FOR REFRECTIVITY ESTIMATION

The Vaisala RK91 Low Altitude Rocketsonde is intended for shipboard or land based pressure, temperature and humidity (PTU) profile measurements of the lower atmosphere with good vertical resolution. The data is used to refraction index computation in order to estimate refractivity properties of the atmosphere of radar and microwave communication systems.

VAISALA TACLAP LOWER ATMOSPHERE PROFILER

The Vaisala TACLAP Lower Atmosphere Profiler is the mobile version of the Vaisala LAP®-3000 wind profiler. TACLAP can be deployed rapidly and maneuvered with defense forces. When it is impractical to launch balloon-borne radiosondes, TACLAP is a viable alternative or complement to radiosonde-based sounding systems.

VAISALA SERVICE CONTRACT

With the Vaisala Service Contract, Vaisala offers its defence customers various levels of service to suit their unique operational requirements. The service levels cover software upgrades and maintenance, configuration management, spare part service, emergency calls, 24-hr online help and annual maintenance.
