The Cased Telescopic Weapon System (CTWS) is a 40mm cannon with new cased ammunition, in a JV between RO Defence and GIAT of France, which is lighter and more compact than conventional ammunition systems.

The 40mm CTWS turret can be fitted to a number of infantry fighting vehicles and reconnaissance vehicles, such as the Warrior and FRES (Future Rapid Effects System).

Design Characteristics include:

• Novel gun design through innovations in ammunition shape

• CTWS ammunition is wholly contained within the cartridge

• High-density storage with maximum space efficiency

• Use of lightweight materials
