LION

Info
Manufactured by: BAE SYSTEMS
Type: Night Vision Devices
Name: Night vision device

BAE SYSTEMS, a world leader in Electro-Optic Systems, has the capability to provide: total programme management; cooled and uncooled thermal imaging technologies; and reliable, low through-life cost solutions.

BAE SYSTEMS' LION - Lightweight Infrared Observation Night Sight - utilises the latest uncooled Focal Plane Array (FPA) technology to bring all the advantages of a thermal imager to today's soldier.

LION is very compact, lightweight and has been economically designed for ease of use under the arduous conditions of today's 24 hour battlefield. The use of uncooled technology means operation of the LION is near instantaneous thereby eliminating the need for battery draining standby modes associated with cooled thermal imaging units. It is also virtually inaudible and produces no cold spot signature to other thermal imagers making it particularly suitable for covert operation.

The binocular display minimises eye strain and reduces operator fatigue allowing prolonged use of LION to gain maximum tactical benefits.
