Development/Description This lightweight long recoil 105 mm rifled gun system has been designed by Giat Industries as a private venture for installation in light tracked and wheeled armoured vehicles with a combat weight of 15 tonnes upwards. It can fire the standard 105 mm types of ammunition that are fired by the heavier AMX-30, M60, Leopard 1 and M1 Abrams MBTs. For trials purposes this has been fitted on a wide range of tracked and wheeled armoured vehicles but as of mid-1999, no production orders had been placed for this turret system. The 105 mm 105 G2 has been installed in the private venture Giat Industries TML three-man turret. The ordnance is fitted with a thermal sleeve, fume extractor and a single-baffle muzzle brake. Status Production as required. Installed on AMX-10RC (6x6) (trials only), VEXTRA (TML 105 turret), Piranha (TML 105 turret), CV 90105 (TML 105 turret) and in future BMP-2.
