The MIDR 06-20-45, a variant of the MIDS 06-20-45 engine already fitted on the Giat Industries VAB (4x4 and 6x6 armoured personnel carriers) and Renault Vehicules Industriels TRM 10 000 (6x6 tactical truck) vehicles, offers a higher specific level of power due to the use of a turbocharger with an intercooler. By mid-1999, well over 1,500 of the MIDR 06-20-45 engines had been produced. There are four members of this family, each with different power outputs.
