The Israeli company Plasan presented its new lightweight protected vehicle Yagu for the first time at the Expo Seguridad 2018 in Mexico City.
According to the announcement of Plasan, the new car is designed to behave like an ATV, but at the same time provide its crew of three people with ballistic protection at the level of B6 + (similar to STANAG 4569 level II), which protects against the wheel of calibers 5.56x45, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 mi.
Thanks to the front and side windows and universal surveillance cameras, the protected capsule provides excellent situational awareness and reaction to danger through the use of an ultra-light remote-controled weapon station that can be equipped with a 5.56 or 7.62 mm machine gun and electron-optical surveillance devices. The weapon station is controlled by the crew from inside the armored capsule, which has an air conditioner.
The vehicle can also be equipped with a droning system that can operate in the air for 27 minutes and travel at speeds up to 60 km/h. Thanks to the autotracking of the target, the drone provides increased situational awareness of the crew.
Yagu, which can be transported by air, is designed to meet the needs of special operations forces, border patrols, urban operations, and special crime control missions where light and flexible platforms are required. According to Plasan, Yagu provides a high level of protection with exceptionally low weight.
Yagu can be used on a rocky and dirty landscape, on sand dunes and in forest environments, on extremely steep mountain roads. In urban conditions, the compact size of Yagu is convenient, since it is able to move along narrow aisles (its width is only 162 cm), crossing blocked roads along sidewalks and stairs.
