REMAX – (Reparo de Metralhadora automatizada X) is a Brazilian remote weapon system produced by CTEx (Brazilian Army engineers) and Ares Aeroespacial e Defesa S.A.
The REMAX is a stabilized and servo controlled weapon station for .50” and 7,62 mm machine guns developed according to the requirements of the Brazilian Army. It has automatic recocking and excellent observation and self-defense capability.
The REMAX is used in armoured vehicles for troop transport (produced by IVECO/FIAT) and in armoured platforms that include logistics vehicles utilized in combat, border patrol missions, peace keeping missions and law and order keeping missions. The weapon station command & control terminal includes two joysticks and a display.
REMAX weapon system is intended to equip some of the 2044 Iveco Veículos de Defesa VBTP-MR Guarani family of wheeled armoured vehicles to be delivered from 2012 to the Brazilian Army.
REMAX is powered by the vehicle itself and it has internal self test capability, able to verify all the electronics functions that assure its operating conditions.
The system consists basically of two units: the weapon station, outside the vehicle, and the operation console, inside the vehicle.
For observation and target acquisition, REMAX can be equipped with different payloads including OIP Sensor Systems NV Mini-EOPTRIS (Miniaturized Electro Optical Ranging and Imaging System) or Thales Canada Inc TIM. The turret and gun-aiming stabilization system is supplied by Moog In.
