GTR was established in 1963. The original sponsor of the company was General Tire International of Akron, USA.

GTR is the largest tyre manufacturer in Pakistan, supplying tyres to all car, truck, bus and tractor manufacturers in Pakistan. GTR also supplies tyres to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and government transport fleets.

GTR has also been the exporter of tyres, most of that were Formula-III racing car tyres, exported to UK.

GTR tyres are sold under comprehensive warranty.
